Different cultures conceptualize and measure components of intelligence in various ways. Some cultures value a person?s ability to quickly process and respond to information. Other cultures may value one?s ability to consult with members of the same culture who have more life experience in order to solve problems. Still, other cultures value creativity, formal education, and literacy as a basis of intelligence. With so many variations in cultural beliefs, how do researchers ensure accurate measurements of intelligence among different cultures? For example, can standardized tests of intellectual ability from a Western culture adequately and appropriately measure the intelligence valued by Kpelle farmers in Liberia?
For this Assignment, consider how cultures interpret intelligence differently. Reflect on how various cultures measure intelligence. Use a culture of interest and, in addition, select another culture that defines intelligence differently. Consider how you might test different cognitive abilities (e.g., memory, organization, and visualization) in each of these two different cultures.

Essay Instructions: Perceptions at a Party

Imagine the following scenario: You arrive at a festive party around 9:00 p.m. As you walk in the door, you notice there are at least 20??"30 people in this spacious, open house. The air smells like fresh flowers and savory foods. The lighting is bright enough to see well, but dim enough to set a sophisticated atmosphere. The rooms are comfortably warm, and there is a roaring fire in the fireplace. The host is playing instrumental jazz music through the speakers. The host has decorated the rooms, which are painted in light colors with vibrant blue and green decorations, matching silk pillows, plush soft throws and feathery centerpieces.

To prepare for this Discussion:

• Review the PowerPoint for Chapter 4: Sensation and Perception (attached).
• Consider how different perceptions work together to "round out" your experience of the party as described and how those perceptions make you feel there.
• Reflect on two of the sensory perceptions presented at the party, and how they start and end in the body and brain and affect your experience.

Write an explanation of how the two sensory perceptions you chose start and end in the body and brain. Include how these senses and perceptions affect your experience at the party. For example, how would the party feel to you if you did NOT have these senses and perceptions?

Essay Instructions: Please choose 3 topics from the first 3 weeks of the course. I would like you to find a scholarly article that pertains to each of these topics. This means that your reference list should include 3 articles and the text at a minimum. Your paper should include an introduction and conclusion that summarize the contents of the entire paper. - The literature review have to include 3 sections:
1- The INTRODUCTION paragraph : It will be in your own words. The paragraph ends with your THESIS STATEMENT,* which tells how the literature in this review is ORGANIZED. Thesis Statement presents (1) the clear (“narrowed”) topic and (2) a statement of your paper’s position or point of view on that topic.
2- The BODY should be organized on the basis of the 2 or 3 groupings you have made of your sources.The topic sentence of each paragraph should indicate what criterion unifies that paragraph.
3- A CONCLUSION paragraph: Make it brief, and show what relevance the Review will have in your eventual use of it.
