Please read lines 549 through 678 and answer the following questions.
For questions 1 through 5, pretend that you are God, as He's presented between lines 549 and 678. You are listening to the discussion between Satan and Eve. Record your thoughts about what is going on down in Paradise in five journal entries. Write one paragraph for each entry. There should be 5 paragraphs of 100 words

In one paragraph, summarize Satan's reasoning as he persuades Eve that she should eat the fruit.
 
7. Think of a modern example of someone trying to persuade another person to do something which is "forbidden." Describe the situation. Assume the voice of this tempter. Then write at least 250 words of persuasion. Base your argument upon the reasoning you identified in the previous question.

8. Read lines 733 through 779 and answer the following question.

15. Read lines 1065 through 1133.
What new emotion do Adam and Eve experience that causes them to cover themselves? What tree's leaves do they use?

16. What emotions do they experience after their sin?

1. Compare and contrast the characters of God, Satan, and Adam in Milton's Paradise Lost. How is each developed and described?

2. William Blake said that Milton was "of the Devil's party without knowing it." He meant that he felt the true hero of Paradise Lost is Satan, that Satan is the character with whom we can best identify. Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

3. Discuss some similarities between Milton's Paradise Lost and Marlowe's Dr Faustus.

4. Analyze the connection between Satan's fall and Adam's fall in Paradise Lost. What is the essential difference between them?

5. Discuss the relationship of Adam and Eve as Milton presents it in Book 9 of Paradise Lost. What was their life like before, during and after the fall? Who was to blame for the fall?

6. Milton says that his poem was written to "justify the ways of God to men." What is his justification? Refer especially to God's own arguments in Book 3.

7. Analyze the fall as it is presented in Book 9 of Paradise Lost. What tactics did Satan pursue in tempting Even and why? Why was he successful? Why did Adam eat after her? What moral, in any, does the fall hold for a modern reader? What did man fall from or to when he fell?
