Essay Instructions: Hello,
This is a Master level literature review of a dissertation about consumer attitudes and perceptions towards organic food in the United Kingdom. This should be an analytical review and not discriptive.
The objectives of this research are trying to answer the following questions:
What is the awareness of all customers towards organic food
What are the most important reasons that make them buy or not buy organic food
Are they willing to increase the consumption of organic food and if yes what needs to change and if no why not
Do they believe that organic food delivers what it claims
Which are the sources they consider as more reliable when deciding on buying organics
How do they feel about the number of different certifying labels in the market and do they trust in these labels

This literature review is devided into the following parts:
What is consumer behaviour
Factors affecting consumer behaviour (Cultural factors, Social factors, Personal factors, Psychological factors)
What is perception?
Perceived risk in food
Price perception
What are attitudes?
Willingness to pay
Knowledge deficit model
Organic food as a strategy to deal with worries about the safety and quality of food
Consumer buying decision process

Please write one full page for every point and no tables or graphs to be be included. Focus should be on consumers in general but also on english consumers related to organic food products.

Bad Science: Quacks, Hacks, and Big Pharma Flacks Have you ever wondered how one day the media can assert that alcohol is bad for us and the next unashamedly run a story touting the benefits of daily alcohol consumption? Or how a drug that is pulled off the market for causing heart attacks ever got approved in the first place? How can average readers, who aren?t medical doctors or Ph.D.s in biochemistry, tell what they should be paying attention to and what?s, well, just more junk?
Ben Goldacre has made a point of exposing quack doctors and nutritionists, bogus credentialing programs, and biased scientific studies. He has also taken the media to task for its willingness to throw facts and proof out the window. But he?s not here just to tell you what?s wrong. Goldacre teaches you how to evaluate placebo effects, double-blind studies, and sample sizes, so that you can recognize bad science when you see it. You?re about to feel a whole lot better.
The written body of the assignment (separate from the abstract) should be brief but concise, totaling no more than 5 pages. In the main body of your paper the aim is to first, describe your chosen topic in full detail. In addition, your next aim is to focus on why topic is so important and what controversy is all about. What implications did it have in the scientific community? What implications does it have in the lay man society? Is it relevant today? Where do you see the future of this topic? Be sure to give specific examples of its relevance and relate it back to the major themes in Dr. Goldacre?s novel. CSE style should be followed (please see below and additional handout).

Typing - All text should Time New Roman in 12 point font, double spaced

? Major Paper Sections
Your paper should include four major sections: the Title Page, Abstract, Main Body, and References. The Abstract for this paper will be the general summary from your chosen technology. It should be no more than a paragraph in length.
? Title Page
The title page should contain the title of the paper, the student?s name, and the institutional affiliation. Include the page header flush left with the page number bottom centered starting on the title page. Please note that on the title page, your page header/running head should look like this:

Pages after the title page should have a running head that looks like this:

? Abstract
Begin a new page. Your abstract page should already include the page header (described above). On the first line of the abstract page, center the word ?Abstract? (no bold, formatting, italics, underlining, or quotation marks).
Beginning with the next line summarize your paper. (Do not indent.) You should also include possible implications of this selected biotechnology. Your abstract should be a single paragraph double-spaced. Your abstract should be between 150 and 250 words.

? Main Body
Begins on a new page after the abstract. It should include and answer all the questions raised in the assignment.

? Reference
Follow strict CSE format, as well as in text citations. The Reference page should be separate from the main body and included with the page numbers. The references are a direct reflection of your in text citations, and no overview sources that you used for gaining an understanding.

Explanatory Summary: Synthesizing and Paraphrasing Research Sources

Purpose: Synthesizing and paraphrasing sources for your research paper based on your annotated bibliography.

Format: 2-3 Pages ( 2 complete pages minimum; 12 point font, 1 inch margin all sides; typed and double - spaced; Title page and Works Cited page)

Specifics: For this paper, you will take the paraphrased information from your annotated bibliography (minimum of 15 sources), and write a summary of it. You will synthesize these main ideas, grouping similar philosophies, ideas, concepts, and statistical information together. You will also note any dissenting views or conflicting information that you have encountered.

I strongly suggest you use headings.

Annotated bibliography and synthesis:

Each entry in the annotated bibliography should contain the following information:

1. Bibliographic data as it would appear on the works cited page.
2. A one or two sentence summary of the subject (and thesis, if any)
3. A one or two sentence summary of each of the most notable points with regard to the topic (organic food)
4. Compose complete sentences.
5. Cite the information exactly as it will appear on the Works Cited page using MLA style.
6. Any pages from sources from which you quote or paraphrase must be highlighted.

Grading Criteria:

1. Clearly introduce the topic.
2. Do not misrepresent the author's positions or findings.
3. Include all the author's important idea's, assertions, or findings.
4. Using linking words and transitional sentences for smoothness and logic and aviod plagiarism.
5. Have correct grammer, accurate punctuation, and flawless spelling.

authors use the examples of how Courtney Thorne-Smith was starving himself and exercising constantly to compete with the star of the show, Calista Flockhard, and rendering herself weak and tired (Rowland 55; Rhodes 102). Sharlene Hesse-Biber takes it one step further in " Am I Thin Enough Yet" by describing how the media is being used as a tool by cosmetic and diet and weight loss companies to increase their profits (535-37). Perhaps Nora Underwood sums it best when she states that "...what's remarkable now is how profoundly body image is affected by popular culture, and how willing-no eager-people are to mess with Mother Nature" (par. 2)
