Title: Dating Culture in 1950's

Total Pages: 7 Words: 2386 Sources: 0 Citation Style: APA Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: It has to be a research paper about Dating culture in 1950's

- there will be a part where you compare it to 2000's.
Please be clear and always use examples.

Here is my thesis paragraph( you can also fix this paragraph by adding and correcting it) please continue to this poaragraph.

Now and then, the dating culture has changed from one generation to another. Teenagers in the fifties changed the rules of dating and, consequently, formed the basis of what today's teenagers consider normal dating. By considering the relationships among teenagers in the 1950’s, it is clear that the families back then were way more conservative than nowadays families. In the 1950s divorce rates were lower. While apparently this fact appears to fit into the "happy days" the 50s were remembered. The term “going out” had its roots in this specific period of time. Also I believe the difference between 1950’s teenagers and today's is up to the music they are listening to.

Title: 1950s

Total Pages: 3 Words: 923 References: 0 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: Many Americans look back on the 1950s with nostalgia and see it as America at its best, the norm to which we should strive to return. What characterized American society in those years? In what way were the years between 1945 and 1960 unusual? What realities were hidden behind those years of optimism and prosperity? Do you consider the 1950s a positive or negative period in U.S. history?

Title: African Americans during the 1950s

Total Pages: 4 Words: 1385 Works Cited: 7 Citation Style: Chicago Document Type: Essay

Essay Instructions: Topic is African American families in the 1950s. What challenges did they face? How did they overcome these challenges?

Annotated bibliography requires 3 primary sources and 4 secondary sources that must be scholarly (by scholarly, I mean books or journals). Please organize with primary sources first and then the secondary sources. For each primary source, write 4-5 sentences that analyzes and draws conclusions about the topic (African American families). For each secondary source, write 4-5 sentences summarizing the article or book.

One of the primary sources needs to be the 1961 screenplay of A Raisin in the sun.

Because this is an annotated bibliography, the number of pages is not really all that important. I entered 4 as a general guess, but if it is 3-4 that is fine, as long as there are 4-5 sentences with each source.

Title: Television's depiction of american family in the 1950s and 1960s

Total Pages: 4 Words: 1500 Bibliography: 4 Citation Style: MLA Document Type: Research Paper

Essay Instructions: Dear Writer,

This essay must be 1200 words in length (plus or minus 10 words is okay). It must be properly cited with reference to assigned readings, which I will be uploading. You may also cite other readings, shows or pop culture phenomena if you wish, BUT YOU MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU CAN INTEGRATE THE ASSIGNED READINGS INTO A WELL-ARGUED ESSAY. Remember to define terms such as genre, episodic series, demographics, etc. Please read the prompt carefully so that you are answering the question RATHER THAN TELLING EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT THE SUBJECT.

PROMPT: How did television entertainment in the 1950s and early 1960s depict the American family, and why?

Now, concerning the WHY portion of the prompt, my instructor said it is probably the most important component of the question I MUST answer. He said the book by Prime Time Families by Ella Taylor (which I will provide a e-book version of) contains a lot of information about why the mid-century family was depicted in a particular way. So please focus on these two parts only: how family was depicted in the 50s & 60s and why were depicted in a certain way.

I would ask that you please stay with the prompt and incorporate all the readings to ONLY answer what is asked in the prompt (i.e.: no comparison with the family now or anything of that sort). Again, the most important part is to write a paper that: (1) answers the prompt, (2) incorporates the readings well, (3) and have a coherent argument. Please make it 1200 words and make sure to write in your words because I have to turn this in to turnitin.com.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:
1. I ask that you please read the resources material carefully and thoroughly because the goal of this essay is to demonstrate that i can integrate the assigned readings into a well-argued essay.
2. Of the resources material I will be providing, the most important and central reading should be the book, Prime Time Families by Ella Taylor. I will provide a e-book version for you; you need to Adobe digital editions to read the pdf, and you can download it for free here: http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions.html
Let me know if that works for you.
3. I have to turn this in on turnitin.com which weeds out plagiarism. Please make sure that you write in your own words and when quoting from the resources material, please cite accordingly. References should be written in APA format!!
4. Please make sure that you write a well thought-out, organized essay with strong arguments supported by the readings.

Also, before writing, I request that you briefly consult with me on how you will be organizing your essay (a brief outline).

Thank you, and if you have any questions, please let me know!
